text book cover

a couple of years ago, i worked in "the woods." i was the hutmaster of a wilderness lodge in the adirondack mountains. it was an excuse to retreat from the real world and take a lot of pix of the forest primeval. in between moments of catering to eco-tourists i would wander around the 22 acres under my stewardship with my Pentax and pretend to be Minor White. i would take meditative pictures of the few places that light would break through the canopy of trees. i hoped to illuminate the wonder that is "the roof of New York state."

recently, a professor of Kenetics at Penn State spied some of my work on the web. He liked what he saw and decided that my photo should grace the cover of his textbook about the interaction of rocks and water. this image will be the cover of an upcoming textbook. it's a small run (450 books), but hey, it will help me buy a new scanner ....

That's a wonderful shot...I really love the dynamic effect you get with moving water.
